Freezing Temperatures Promised This Weekend

By Corrib Oil | 23rd February 2018

We’re in for a bitterly cold weekend with frosty nights and cold days according to Met Eireann.

And there will be no let-up next week as freezing Scandinavian winds cause temperatures to plummet nationwide.

Ireland will be even colder than Iceland as we get belted by biting winds from the east.

The so-called “Beast from the East” will bring extremely cold weather to our shores, with Met Eireann forecasting severe frosts, temperatures as low as -3C and wintry showers.

Met Eireann have said: “It will be very cold on Monday night with a severe frost and the risk of wintry showers along northern and eastern coasts in moderate northeasterly winds.

“It will turn progressively colder from Tuesday onwards with wintry showers becoming more widespread in moderate to fresh northeasterly winds.

“By Thursday it is likely that it will be become exceptionally cold and day time temperatures may hover just around freezing or even below freezing in some places with widespread severe frost at night”.
